Overview
Sivir is the kind of ADC that does not try to win the game alone — she wins it by making her entire team better. Her ultimate On The Hunt gives everyone around her a massive movement speed boost which turns scrappy chases into clean kills and losing teamfights into winning ones just by enabling better positioning. Her waveclear with Q and Ricochet is among the best in the game which means she is almost impossible to freeze out of farm and always has priority in her lane. She does not have the flashy mechanics of Caitlyn or the insane burst of Draven but in the right team composition she is quietly one of the most reliable ADCs in the game. The key to playing her well is understanding that you are a utility carry — your job is to stay alive, deal consistent damage, and use your ultimate at the moment it changes the fight.
Strengths
- One of the best waveclear kits in the ADC role — Q and Ricochet together clear waves almost instantly
- On The Hunt ultimate provides team-wide movement speed that can completely change chase and teamfight dynamics
- Spell Shield gives her a reliable way to block key abilities and avoid getting caught by CC
- Safe laning phase with good range on Q for poke and Spell Shield to block engage abilities
- Scales well into late game with attack speed and crit items, consistent damage output in extended fights
Weaknesses
- Shorter attack range than most ADCs means she has to position more carefully to trade safely
- Heavily reliant on positioning and team protection — getting caught without Spell Shield available is usually a death
- Struggles against heavy dive compositions where enemies can reach her despite her movement speed
- Needs multiple items to reach her damage ceiling — early game she deals less damage than most ADCs
- Spell Shield has to be timed correctly or it is wasted — mistiming it against the wrong ability leaves her exposed
Early Game
Sivir's early game is about farming safely and building a CS lead through superior waveclear. Her Q poke is decent range and can chunk enemies who stand behind their minions, but you are not looking for all-ins early. The most important early habit is keeping Spell Shield reactive — do not waste it on poke, save it for engage abilities like hooks, pulls or stuns that would result in your death. Against aggressive supports and ADCs, use your waveclear to shove the wave in and force them to deal with the minions rather than you. Your laning phase goal is to be even or ahead on gold while keeping your Spell Shield for emergencies.
Mid Game
Mid game Sivir becomes very valuable for her team. Her waveclear lets her shove side lanes in seconds and rotate to objectives faster than almost any other ADC. When your team is grouping for dragon or baron, make sure you are there — On The Hunt changes the dynamics of objective fights completely by letting your team engage or disengage faster than the enemy. Use your ultimate proactively when your team is chasing kills or when you need to retreat quickly rather than saving it for a perfect moment that may never come. Keep farming efficiently between fights to maintain gold lead.
Late Game
Late game Sivir with full build is a consistent damage machine and her ultimate becomes a fight-winning tool. In teamfights position at the back and focus on maintaining Ricochet uptime against grouped enemies — the bounce damage against multiple targets adds up to enormous DPS over a fight. Save Spell Shield for the most dangerous ability the enemy can throw at you rather than using it reactively on the first thing they cast. When your team wins a fight use ultimate to chase down kills before enemies can escape to safety. Your waveclear also becomes a game-winning tool late — clearing side waves in seconds means the enemy team can never afford to not group with you.
Tips & Tricks
- Spell Shield timing is the most important skill on Sivir — learn which abilities in each matchup are worth blocking and save it specifically for those.
- Use On The Hunt proactively during chases rather than waiting — the movement speed benefit is most valuable the earlier in a chase you activate it.
- Q can bounce off multiple targets including minions — aim it to pass through minions and hit the enemy ADC behind the wave for safe poke.
- In lane, shove the wave with Q and Ricochet then back off to let your support rotate or to deny the enemy laner CS under tower.
- Sivir's mana costs are high early — manage your resource carefully and do not spam Q on the wave if you might need Spell Shield soon.
