Overview
Zeri is one of the most unique ADCs in the game because her entire kit revolves around movement in a way that no other marksman does. Her basic attack is actually a skillshot — she fires a short range electric bolt that she aims manually — and every movement ability she uses charges her passive which temporarily makes her auto attacks deal AOE damage. She can also zip through terrain by using her E ability on walls which gives her escape and engagement options that other ADCs simply do not have. The thing about Zeri is that her power completely snowballs when she gets kills — each takedown gives her a stacking movement speed buff that makes her progressively harder to catch or escape from as a fight goes on. In a full teamfight where multiple enemies are dying she becomes a blender that most teams simply cannot deal with. The weakness is the early game where her damage is low and her skillshot auto attacks feel awkward before you internalize the playstyle.
Strengths
- Kill stacking passive gives movement speed per takedown making her progressively faster and harder to stop as teamfights go on
- Burst Fire Q auto attack reset mechanic allows very high DPS when combined with movement abilities that proc her passive
- Ultrashock Laser E can zip through walls giving her escape angles and engagement options that other ADCs cannot replicate
- Tremendous teamfight carry potential when ahead — a fed Zeri in a chaotic fight with multiple resets becomes nearly impossible to stop
- Lightning Crash ultimate supercharges her abilities and movement speed making her a genuine unkillable force for its duration
Weaknesses
- Weak early lane — her damage before items is low and the skillshot auto attack playstyle feels unfamiliar which causes many players to underperform early
- Burst Fire Q is a short range skillshot that requires aim and can miss — unlike most ADCs who auto attack passively she has to actively aim every attack
- Needs multiple items to reach her damage ceiling — early game she deals less than most ADCs and relies on surviving to her power spikes
- Hard crowd control completely shuts down her mobility advantage — a Leona ult or a Nautilus hook removes the element that makes her dangerous
- Wall zip requires knowing wall locations and practicing the mechanic — in unfamiliar maps or under pressure the escape tool fails when needed most
Early Game
Zeri early game is about patient farming and learning to aim her Q auto attacks efficiently without overextending. Her damage before first item is noticeably lower than most ADCs so do not try to win extended trades — look for short burst trades where you fire Q quickly and back off before they can respond. The key early habit is always moving between Q shots rather than standing still — her passive charges from movement abilities and the movement between autos is crucial for her DPS pattern. Against aggressive lane combinations play further back and accept that you will be poked down sometimes rather than trading back poorly. Ward the river since Zeri has limited escape options before she has items and knows wall locations.
Mid Game
Mid game Zeri with one or two items starts to feel like the champion she eventually becomes. Her Q damage increases significantly and her movement during fights creates the DPS pattern that makes her strong. In teamfights the key is to start at the edge of the fight and use movement abilities to proc her passive while firing Q rapidly. When the first enemy dies her kill stack passive activates and each subsequent kill makes her faster and harder to stop. Use E to zip through walls to reposition during teamfights rather than just for escaping — approaching from an unexpected angle through a wall can put you directly onto the enemy carry. Lightning Crash ultimate should be activated as soon as a teamfight begins rather than saved for a perfect moment.
Late Game
Late game Zeri with full build is a genuine menace in teamfights. Her kill stacking combined with Lightning Crash ultimate and full attack speed from items makes her a blender that the enemy team struggles to stop once she gets going. In full teamfights activate ultimate immediately when the fight begins, stay at the edge firing Q rapidly, and let kills feed your passive stacks. The movement speed from each kill compounds — after two or three kills she is moving so fast that most enemies cannot track her properly. Use wall zips to approach from flanks and to escape sticky situations. The enemy team's best counterplay is hard CC before she gets rolling, so always be aware of what CC they still have available and do not give them a clean window to use it on you.
Tips & Tricks
- Movement between Q shots is not optional — always be moving between each auto attack cast because standing still kills your DPS and negates the movement-based passive charging.
- Practice wall zip locations in training mode before playing ranked — knowing which walls you can zip through and which you cannot is the difference between a clean escape and dying in place.
- Activate Lightning Crash R at the start of teamfights not when you are already low — the supercharged movement speed and damage are most valuable when you have full health to continue fighting.
- E Ultrashock Laser can be aimed at the edge of a wall to zip through it — aim slightly into the wall rather than directly at it for consistent wall traversal.
- Your passive AoE auto attacks from killing enemies stack quickly in chaotic fights — prioritize getting the first kill or assist to start the chain rather than playing too safely at the start of a teamfight.
